Art as experimental composition. The visitor in
a museum, at an exhibition, or in the lounge sees a
display object whichtells him/her to, for example, push
buttons, pull on strings, walk on pictures or spin a top.
Instinct and curiousity will decide how this ’spectator’ will
experience the display. When computer scientists, electricians,
composers, filmers, animaters et. al. come together to create an
interactive display, what kind of artwork do they come up with? We,
in coordination with „Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains“have created „Entro Toupie -Drehen Sie die Welt!" (turn the world!). Depending on how fast a top in spun, film images are thrown onto a movie screen. Musical compositions are also controlled by the spinning object. Every spectator on every visit sees a different film, hears a different sound composition. The exhibit brings the physics concept of ‚entropy’ to the social world.
