We love teamwork. The creative input
from
others brings us forwards. Our backgrounds
compliment each other. We have a journalistic,
scientific or artistic education. Spontaneity
meets planning. Curiosity meets experience.
Pictures meet content. Our films are bound up energy.

Franck:I have been producing and directing films for the international market for the past ten years. In 2003 Robert Cibis and I were the recipients of the German-French journalists’ „Next Generation“prize. Our documentary film „Human Capital“ was sold in five countries. „Jesus Loves You“ is my first feature length cinema film.
My film education took place at the Film Academy in Baden Württemberg, Germany, the Grande Ecole Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains in Paris and within the framework of the Discovery Campus Masterschool.

Cibis:
I am a producer and director of documentary and theatrical films. Michaela Kirst and I were awarded the Ektopfilm 2007 prize for our two-part documentary film „Disgustingly Healthy“. At the moment I’m working on „Pianomania“, a feature length documentary. I studied European film production in the Masterclass of the German-French Film Academy at the Femis, in Paris and at the Film Academy in Baden-Württemberg after having previously studied the Art and Science of Film in Rome and received a Master’s degree at the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris.

Giusi Valentini My assignments at OVAL are to support the areas of content development and production. I am participating in the Discovery Campus Masterschool 2008 with the project “Brain Realoded”. After studying English and German literature in Bologna, Italy and Portsmouth, England, I came to Berlin in 2001. I was responsible for News Production at the Italian State TV for four years and also working as the German correspondent for various Italian media outlets. The fast paced news world taught me a great deal, was continually pumping adrenalin and also gave me the opportunity of learning more about myself. However, I stronlgly felt the lack of contentual depth in this area. Documentary films not only fill this gap, they have opened new horizons for me.

After the completion of my Bachelor’s courses in „Media Management“ I came to Berlin. At OVAL-Filmemacher I am doing a six month work training program in the areas of production and post-production, while additionally writing my Bachelor’s thesis. It is my personal goal to make this training period as broad as possible and to gain all around practical experience. |

I am responsible for editing and production at OVAL. After a short sojourn in Ireland during my media studies in Austria, I landed in Berlin in order to expand my interest in documentary films and to complete the work for my bachelor’s degree. Working on exceptional subjects, and the interplay of research, technology and production fascinates me. |

I have always made small films with passion. The logical progression, however, was actually more of a coincidence, in that I happened to have slipped into a vocational training slot for media conception and design in sound and image in Rostock after completing my secondary school education. As a would-be film maker, now in my second year of training, I found my way to OVAL Filmemacher, where I plan to experience the „operating process of a production company“ during the next six months, until August of this year, or simply enjoy my student apprenticeship. |
